WSYR Channel 9 warns viewers it could go dark on Verizon FIOS

Syracuse, NY -- WSYR Channel 9 is warning people who view the station via the Verizon FIOS service that they may not receive the channel after Thursday.

The two companies are in the midst of contract negotiations, the station said this morning on its website. The current contract expires Thursday.

The television station which broadcasts ABC programs said it has reached deals with other cable and satellite television providers. Channel 9 will continue to broadcast over the air, and on DIRECTV, Dish Network, and Time Warner Cable.

It encouraged Verizon FIOS subscribers to call the company at 800-837-4966 to voice their opinion on the contract talks.

The station apologized for the inconvenience and said it will update viewers on the status of the talks on its website and in local news broadcasts.
