WSYR Syracuse Adds 4 P.M. Newscast

The Nexstar ABC affiliate’s new broadcast will debut on Sept. 15 and be anchored by Carrie Lazarus.

Nexstar’s ABC affiliate WSYR Syracuse, N.Y. (DMA  85), will expand its news lineup on Monday, Sept. 15, with the addition of a 4 p.m. weekday newscast, NewsChannel 9 – First at Four.

The broadcast will provide the day’s headlines including developing local and regional news and weather. In addition, the station says First at Four “will feature a highly interactive delivery style, inviting viewers to participate and interact with First at Four anchor Carrie Lazarus” and the station’s reporters.

“Nexstar and our Central New York station operations are committed to supporting the evolving needs and interests of our local viewing communities, hometown businesses, and public organizations,” said Theresa Underwood, WSYR VP-GM. “The expansion of NewsChannel 9’s news programming is in direct response to viewers who have requested more news content from our team, earlier in the day. With the addition of First at Four, we will now provide seven hours of the most relevant and innovative news programming per day, offering viewers more opportunities to access the local content they want and the information they need.”
