WTAE Names Chuck Wolfertz Gen. Sales Mgr.

Charles W. Wolfertz III has been named general sales manager at Hearst Television’s ABC affiliate WTAE Pittsburgh (DMA 23). Wolfertz will oversee all sales aspects of the station including WTAE, WTAE.com and the 24-hour movie channel thisTV Pittsburgh.

“Chuck Wolfertz is an accomplished sales executive who will bring strong leadership, energy, and experience to WTAE in his new role,” said WTAE President-GM Michael J. Hayes. “He has roots in Pennsylvania and will be a key addition to our quality sales organization at WTAE.”

Wolfertz comes to WTAE from Belo-owned WHAS Louisville, Ky., where he has been the director of sales since 2007. He succeeds Robert G. Bee, who left WTAE at the end of January to become VP-GM of Nexstar’s WBRE-WYOU Wilkes-Barre, Pa.

Prior to his experience in Louisville, Wolfertz was hired as national sales manager at Belo’s WFAA Dallas where he was later promoted to local sales manager. He began his sales career with TeleRep in New York and Philadelphia. In 1999, he was promoted to manage the TeleRep Atlanta office before joining WFAA in 2002.

Wolfertz graduated from Gettysburg College in Gettysburg, Pa.
