WTAJ Names John Mecham News Director
Nexstar Broadcasting’s WTAJ Johnstown-Altoona, Pa. (DMA 102), has hired John Mecham as the CBS affiliate’s news director. Mecham will oversee WTAJ’s entire news operation. He replaces Dave Kaplar who left the station in April to become assistant news director at WEWS Cleveland.
Mecham will join the station in July and in addition to the Altoona newsroom, he will manage the station’s newsrooms in Johnstown, DuBois and State College.
Mecham’s background includes stints at KVOA Tucson, Ariz., as a content management center supervisor; at KING Seattle as a news promotion producer; at WFOR-WBFS Miami as an executive producer; and at KDKA Pittsburgh as managing editor/executive producer.
He is a University of Alabama graduate.
