DMA 35: MILWAUKEE

WTMJ, ‘Milwaukee Business Journal’ Partner

The Scripps NBC affiliate will join WTMJ-AM to round out the Milwaukee Business Journal’s broadcast alliance.

To provide what they call “a more comprehensive approach to business reporting” in the Milwaukee area (DMA 35), Scripps-owned NBC affiliate WTMJ and Milwaukee Business Journal have forged a multimedia partnership that also includes WTMJ-AM.

WTMJ says it will collaborate daily with the local business publication to offer audiences the kind of business coverage they might not find anywhere else.

“Both of our news organizations bring something unique to the table,” said Joe Poss, WTMJ vice president and general manager. “As we collaborate, we’ll be able to provide viewers with a deeper understanding of the issues that impact our communities, our local businesses and local consumers.”

Milwaukee Business Journal President-Publisher Kira Lafond said: “The E.W. Scripps Co.’s incredible reach and Milwaukee Business Journal’s expertise and focus on business news and events will give current and future leaders unprecedented access to the information, education and connections that will help them build their business, enhance their careers and simplify their professional lives.”

Plans for the content partnership include collaboration on special series that focus on specific aspects of the local business landscape and investigative reports; regular contributions from Journal reporters on WTMJ news, as well as leading the market in breaking business news across all platforms.

The Journal has an existing content partnership with WTMJ-AM on which the publication’s reporters can be heard regularly. The newly formed alliance, with the addition of television, is the only one of its kind in the Milwaukee market, according to WTMJ.

BRAND CONNECTIONS

“This partnership demonstrates the unique power of Scripps in Milwaukee. The opportunity to feature content on radio, TV, digital and print better serves and informs the community,” said Tom Langmyer, VP-GM of WTMJ and WKTI and VP of radio news, talk and sports programming for E.W. Scripps.
