WTTG Expands News In Mornings, Weekends

The Fox Washington O&O boosts its local news lineup by eight hours a week by adding an additional hour to both Good Day D.C. and Fox 5 News Morning Sunday, plus a new two-hour Saturday morning newscast, bringing its weekly total to 56 hours.

Fox-owned WTTG Washington (DMA 8) will add an additional eight hours of local news per week.

As part of this expansion, weekday newscast Good Day D.C. will add an additional hour, effective June 16. The program will broadcast from 9 to 11 a.m. Monday-Friday.

Beginning July 12, WTTG will add a newscast on Saturday morning with Fox 5 News Morning, which will broadcast from 7 to 9 a.m.

Additionally, an hour of news will be added to Fox 5 News Morning Sunday, which will begin an hour earlier and broadcast from 7 to 9 a.m.

Patrick Paolini, the station’s VP-GM, said: “The appetite for more local news has increased; we listened and decided to expand. This is an exciting time for our industry, when local viewers demand relevant and accurate news with more immediacy than ever before, expecting us to report beyond the headlines everyone else is reporting.”
