WTVJ Miami Adds Anchor Sheli Muniz

NBC-owned WTVJ Miami (DMA 16) today named Sheli Muniz news anchor for NBC 6 News at 4:30 a.m. and at 11 a.m. Muniz is a bilingual journalist who has experience working across various parts of the state, including South Florida.

She succeeds longtime WTVJ anchor Pam Giganti, who is retiring from broadcast television at the end of December.

Muniz, who will start at her new job on Dec. 16 and is scheduled to be on-air later the same month, joins WTVJ after working as an anchor and reporter for WKMG, the CBS affiliate in Orlando, Fla., for three years. Previously, Muniz worked at WRDW Augusta, Ga., from 2011 to 2012. Prior to this, Muniz was an anchor, entertainment reporter, Web producer and assignment editor at various Florida TV and radio stations, including WPEC Palm Beach, WUFT Gainesville and WRUF-AM Gainesville.

She began her career in the broadcast industry as an Intern for CBS News’ The Early Show in New York City.

Muniz earned a bachelor’s degree in telecommunications and news from the University of Florida.
