WTVJ Names Roxanne Vargas Weekend A.M. Anchor

NBC O&O WTVJ Miami (DMA 16) has appointed Roxanne Vargas as the station’s new weekend morning anchor. Vargas will anchor the 6 and 9 a.m. newscasts on Saturdays and the 7 and 9 a.m. newscasts on Sundays.

In addition to her new role, Vargas will continue to host the station’s midday entertainment show 6 In The Mix three days a week. WTVJ’s weekday morning traffic anchor Kelly Blanco will host 6 In The Mix two days a week.

Vargas has more than a decade of on-air news experience including consumer, health and entertainment feature reporting as well as covering local and national breaking news. She also regularly contributes reports in Spanish for WTVJ’s sister station WSCV (Telemundo).

A native of Miami, Vargas earned her bachelor’s degree in broadcast journalism from Florida International University.
