WVIT Hartford Adds Two To Reporting Staff

NBC-owned WVIT Hartford, Conn. (DMA 30) on Thursday announced two new journalists, Todd Piro and Audrey Washington, are joining its news team.

Piro joins the station as a reporter after four years with KPSP Palm Springs, Calif., where he was weekday morning anchor for the past two years. He also worked as a reporter, weekend sports anchor and producer prior to his anchoring role.

Before his television career, Piro was a litigation lawyer and recruiting coordinator for the Los Angeles law firm of Hughes Hubbard & Reed LLP and also worked for the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s office.

Audrey Washington comes to Connecticut from WJAR Providence, R.I., where she has been a reporter for the past two years. Before that, she reported at WSYR Syracuse, N.Y., and WITN Greenville, N.C.

Washington has also spent time behind the scenes at New York City’s Fox 5, Lifetime Television, MTV Networks and News 12 Long Island. She began her career at WRNN Kingston, N.Y.

Piro and Washington will begin reporting for the station in the coming weeks.
