WWSI Adds Two Reporters To News Team

Telemundo-owned WWSI Philadelphia (DMA 4) today named Andrea Cruz a reporter for Noticiero Telemundo62 at 5:30, 6 and 11 p.m. on weekdays.

Cruz will work alongside Carolina Cardona, who was named reporter recently, and both will join anchor Ramón Zayas, weather anchor Violeta Yas and sports anchor Jaime Becerril.

Cruz joins WWSI after working as the Miami bureau reporter for the Telemundo Station Group and as part of the NBCUniversal Owned Television Stations Reporter Development Program. The program trains and equips journalists from diverse backgrounds and early in their careers, with the skills necessary to develop into successful television reporters.

At the end of the program, the selected participants transition to reporter roles in other stations, including larger market stations like Los Angeles, New York and Philadelphia.

Before this, Cruz worked for NBC-owned WTVJ Miami from 2013 to 2014. Cruz earned a bachelor’s degree in communications from Florida International University.

Cardona joined the Telemundo62 team in April after working at Telemundo’s KTAZ Phoenix as a reporter from 2014 to 2015. Prior to joining WWSI, Cardona worked at various television stations across the country, as well as the Univision Network.

BRAND CONNECTIONS

Cardona has also served as a radio producer for Caracol Radio in 2004. Cardona earned a bachelor’s degree in journalism and mass communication from Florida International University.
