WXII Morning Team To Appear On ‘Dr. Oz’

The North Carolina NBC affiliate will be featured on the syndicated talk show on May 23 for its efforts to help area residents lose weight and adopt a healthier lifestyle.

Tomorrow morning on Hearst-owned NBC affiliate WXII Greensboro-High Point-Winston Salem, NC (DMA 46), Dr. Mehmet Oz will personally invite WXII’s morning news team to appear on his Sony-distributed talk show on May 23.

Since January, WXII and 18 regional YMCAs have partnered in a community-wide health project called Transformation Nation Triad.  More than 1,800 area residents are active participants in the program and to date, the group has lost over 13,252 pounds. The segment on Dr. Oz will tell the story of the participants and their joint quest for healthier lifestyles. The segment will be shot locally in high definition.  Area YMCA’s will be featured.

“This is an unbelievable opportunity” said Hank Price, WXII president-GM. “Over the past months our morning news team has built a strong relationship with Dr. Oz. He has been wonderfully responsive and helped WXII 12 play an important role in our region’s health.”

In addition to Dr. Oz’s announcement, WXII and the Kernersville Family YMCA will hold a Zumba special on May 5 at 5 p.m. Participants in Transformation Nation Triad, as well as the general public, are invited.  A video crew will record portions of the event to be included in Dr. Oz’s May 23 program.
