WXIX Adding Weekend Morning News

Cincinnati’s Fox affiliate will offer news from 8 to 10 every Saturday and Sunday mornings starting Aug. 18.

Raycom-owned Fox affiliate WXIX Cincinnati (DMA 35) is launching a weekend morning newscast, beginning on Saturday, Aug. 18.

The Saturday and Sunday newscasts will run from 8 to 10 a.m.

“Our commitment to covering local news and weather is what drove this decision,” said WXIX General Manager Bill Lanesey, “When our viewers speak, we listen, and they’ve been telling us they want our brand of a fun, personality-driven morning news on the weekends.”

Morning meteorologist Katy Morgan will work the new weekend shows in addition to three weekday morning newscasts.

Morning reporter Dan Wells will also be moving over from the weekdays to co-host the weekend morning show with Jessica Brown. Brown joins the WXIX from KSNF Joplin, Mo., where she was a reporter and anchor.

The station is hiring a number of other people for the new broadcast, including both on-air talent and behind the scenes staffers.

BRAND CONNECTIONS

With the addition of the weekend morning news, WXIX will be broadcasting 46 hours of local news and weather.
