WXYZ Detroit Airs Live Tree Lighting

Scripps-owned ABC affiliate WXYZ Detroit (DMA 13) joins the Detroit 300 Conservancy to kick off the holiday season on Friday, Nov. 20, at the 2015 Detroit Tree Lighting Ceremony presented by DTE Energy Foundation at Campus Martius Park. WXYZ will Light Up the Season, with a one-hour live broadcast beginning at 7 p.m.

The holiday special will be hosted by WXYZ anchors Stephen Clark, Carolyn Clifford and Glenda Lewis. It will feature legendary Motown singing group The Four Tops, a performance on the rink at Campus Martius Park by former world champion and Olympic figure skater Todd Eldridge, a Christmas classic performed by Detroit entertainer Karen Newman, and the lighting of a 60-foot tall, Michigan-grown Norway Spruce decorated with more than 19,000 twinkling lights and ornaments.

“We are honored to be able to share this uniquely Detroit event with viewers from across Metro Detroit,” said WXYZ VP-GM Mike Murri. “The holiday tree lighting is a wonderful tradition that brings together families from across our region to celebrate our great city.”

Viewers can go to wxyz.com or the WXYZ mobile app to watch a live stream of the show.
