WXYZ-WMYD Names Tony Lamerato Sales Dir.

Scripps-owned WXYZ (ABC)-WMYD (MNT) today named Tony Lamerato director of sales. He will start at the stations on Nov. 7.

Lamerato joins WXYZ-WMYD from Fox Sports Detroit where he was the local sales manager. Prior to that, Lamerato was the digital sales manager and director of new business development at WDIV Detroit.

He also worked for General Motors “R” Works, now Jack Morton Worldwide, as associate marketing manager for Chevrolet in the North Central Region and marketing manager for Chevrolet national sports and entertainment.

“We are thrilled to have Tony lead our sales efforts,” said Mike Murri, WXYZ/WMYD vice president and general manager. “Tony has a proven track record in sales and really understands the Detroit market. We’re confident that his enthusiasm, talent and passion will lead our sales team to even greater success.”

In 2015, Lamerato was honored by Detroit Magazine, as one of the top 30 in their 30s. He was also recognized in 2015 for his innovation and leadership as one of Oakland County’s executive elite 40 under 40.

Lamerato graduated from Aquinas College in Grand Rapids, Mich., with a Bachelor of Science in business administration.
