WYFF Greenville Expands Sunday Late News

Hearst-owned NBC affiliate WYFF Greenville, S.C. (DMA 37), will add a half-hour to its Sunday 11 p.m. newscast. Starting Feb. 21, WYFF News 4 at 11 p.m. will expand to midnight providing a full hour of local news, weather and sports. According to WYFF, it will be the only station in the market to have a one-hour Sunday night newscast.

“WYFF 4 is a proven news leader and this just builds on the great strength we already have on the weekends,” said John Soapes, the station’s president and general manager.

“We know that local news is very important to our viewers. And, more people are watching news on the weekends,” said Bruce Barkley, WYFF news director. “We’ll be able to give our viewers a comprehensive look at what happened over the weekend and the in-depth local news coverage that they expect from WYFF News 4.”

The same team of Mike McCormick, Chris Justus and Marc Dopher will anchor the expanded newscast. This news team also anchors WYFF News 4 at 6 p.m. on Sunday evenings. Matter of Fact with Fernando Espuelas, Hearst Television’s political talk show will continue to follow the Sunday late news and start at midnight.
