WYFF Ups Allyson Powell To A.M. Co-Anchor

Hearst-owned NBC affiliate WYFF Greenville-Spartanburg, S.C.-Asheville, N.C. (DMA 37), on Tuesday promoted Allyson Powell to co-anchor of WYFF News 4 Today.

Powell came to WYFF as a traffic reporter in July 2013. She was promoted to full-time traffic anchor and general assignment reporter in October 2014 and has been reporting on a variety of daily news stories.

Powell now joins anchor Geoff Hart and meteorologist Dale Gilbert on the news desk. WYFF News 4 Today airs weekdays from 4:30 to 7 a.m.

Powell grew up in Greenville. She attended Eastside High School and is a graduate of the University of South Carolina where she received a degree in broadcast journalism. While in college, Powell met her husband, Landon Powell, and their lives changed when he was drafted to play Major League Baseball. During moves around the country, she worked at KOSA Midland-Odessa, Texas, as a reporter and at Comcast Sports in San Francisco as a sports reporter.
