WZDC Taps Zamora, Salazar As Anchors

The Telemundo Station Group today announced the new news team for its WZDC Washington (DMA 6). Alban Zamora and Sulema Salazar have been named news anchors and will be joined by weather anchor Joseph Martinez, sports anchor Moises Linares and multimedia journalists Alonso Castillo, Claudia Curiel, Karla Flores and Alberto Pimienta.

The new team will make its on-air debut on Monday, Jan. 1, 2018, the same day that WZDC’s launches its weekday newscast Noticiero Telemundo Washington at 6 and 11 p.m.

Zamora joins WZDC after working as a national news correspondent for Telemundo Network and CNN en Español, and as news anchor/reporter for Univision’s KWEX San Antonio, Texas. Zamora has also held reporter roles at news outlets in the Dominican Republic, Mexico and Spain. He earned a master’s degree from Universidad Rey Juan Carlos in Spain.  

Salazar has been anchoring local Telemundo newscasts in Washington since 2011.  She joins NBCUniversal after working at television stations in Massachusetts and Texas. She earned a bachelor’s degree in communications from West Texas A&M University.
