WZTV Names Bryan McGruder News Director

The former VP of news at WDAF Kansas City will lead the news operation at Sinclair’s Nashville Fox affil beginning March 4.

Sinclair Broadcast Group’s Fox affiliate WZTV Nashville (DMA 29) today announced that effective March 4, Bryan McGruder takes over as news director. He replaces Roberta Petterson, who left in January.

McGruder comes to Nashville from WDAF Kansas City where he was VP of news for the last 10 years. Under his watch WDAF grew to produce 59.5 hours of live local news each week.

Prior to WDAF, Bryan was VP of news for WHBQ Memphis and was news director at WJCL-WTGS Savannah, Ga. Before becoming a news director, Bryan spent 15 years working as an anchor, reporter, producer and executive producer.

McGruder is a graduate of the University of Missouri School of Journalism.
