Tubi, Fox’s free, ad-supported video-on-demand service, has appointed former Amazon executive Sameer Balgi as its chief financial officer.
Balgi was previously the chief financial officer of Freevee, Amazon’s FAST service and also head of finance for Prime Video’s U.S. Marketplace business. He took on the new position at Tubi effective Nov. 6.
Before working as CFO of Freevee, Balgi worked at Amazon Music during the launch of Prime Music and Amazon Music Unlimited and in the advertising department, across sales finance and Amazon analytics. He previously led global strategy and upstream innovation planning at Procter & Gamble.

“Sameer is a seasoned and strategic executive who stood out in a competitive process for his expertise in AVOD and streaming, his experience driving efficiency and scale, and his thoughtful and solutions-driven approach,” said Anjali Sud, chief executive officer of Tubi.
Tubi, which has more than 200,000 movies and TV episodes, as well as some original programming, lives under Fox’s Tubi Media group umbrella, which also includes Credible, Blockchain Creative Labs and the digital platforms and teams that support Fox sports, news and entertainment divisions. In the September Nielsen Gauge, Tubi captured 1.3 percent of all TV viewing for the month. Balgi comes to Tubi after Sud joined the company as CEO in September.
“I am thrilled to join Tubi at such a transformational time,” Balgi said. “Tubi has been a leader in ad-supported streaming for over a decade and has built a strong foundation with innovative ad technology, a highly engaged viewer base, and the world’s largest content library. I look forward to working closely with Anjali and the team to deliver meaningful shareholder value and to help Tubi usher in the next generation of entertainment.”
