Pete Davidson has reversed course on his Peacock comedy Bupkis, which will no longer return for its previously announced second season, TVLine has confirmed.
“I’ve always seen Bupkis as a window into my life, since it is so personal and about my struggles and family,” Davidson said in a statement on Thursday. “After nearly a decade of my personal life being in the media I wanted a chance to tell my story my way. Of all the work I’ve ever done, Bupkis is by far what I’m most proud of. I am so grateful to Lorne Michaels and Broadway Video, Peacock, Universal Television and the amazing cast and writers for helping me create something honest, funny and heartfelt. I do also feel that this part of my life is finished. I’m very excited for this next chapter and for you guys to see the work. Thank you to all who support me for I am forever grateful.”
Bupkis, which dropped its eight-episode first season in May 2023, was a semi-autobiographical series that followed an exaggerated version of Davidson as he worked through unique family dynamics and the complexities of fame. Edie Falco (The Sopranos) co-starred as Pete’s mother, Amy Davidson, while Oscar winner Joe Pesci played Pete’s grandfather, Joe Larocca.
The series had landed a quick Season 2 renewal in June 2023, less than two months after it debuted.

I often think that Pete is dedicated to sabotaging his own career.
Didn’t watch it but kinda sad for the people who relied/were planning on this job to you…live. Ish is hard out here
Not me blaming Pete just shouting out the usually forgotten
Can he just go away now? I’m so tired of hearing about him.
I feel that Pete takes advantage of the fact that he’s relatively known to just do whatever but fails to see things in a long run perspective. Sure it’s his project and he can do what he wants but he’s not hilarious and not all that and he can’t just assume that all of his upcoming projects are going to be superb.
As a boy, this man lost his father on September 11th, a hero firefighter rushing into the towers, and you can’t blame him for not wanting to continue to relive that personal and family trauma just to make a television show.
So why pitch it in the first place?! …That’s everyone’s point!
He really screwed over the rest of the cast and crew. Hope no one had to turn down any other jobs because of the season 2 renewal
Who gives up working with Joe Pesci and Edie Falco??
