New CNN chief Mark Thompson may have plans to shake up the cable news channel’s offerings, but he isn’t messing with New Year’s Eve.
CNN said Monday that Anderson Cooper and Andy Cohen will return as the hosts of its annual New Year’s Eve show, originating from New York’s Times Square.
The channel says that Sara Sidner and Cari Champion will be joining as co-hosts, taking over at 12:30 a.m. ahead of the central time zone celebrations. Sidner and Champion will host from Auditorium Shores in Austin, Texas. Former CNN anchor Don Lemon previously held down the late night hours for CNN.
CNN says that Richard Quest will report from the crowds in Times Square, with Stephanie Elam from Atlantis, Paradise Island in the Bahamas, Randi Kaye from Key West, Florida, Gary Tuchman and his daughter Lindsay from Las Cruces, New Mexico, and Boris Sanchez from Miami, Florida.
Enrique Iglesias, Maroon 5, Jonas Brothers, Flo Rida, Miranda Lambert, Darius Rucker and Rod Stewart will provide musical performances for the evening, with avid Blaine expected to perform magic on the show. Neil Patrick Harris, Bowen Yang and Jeremy Renner will also appear as interview guests.
CNN’s New Year’s Eve show will also stream on Max.
No word on if Cooper and Cohen will be able to booze it up as they have in years past.
