CNN sister network HLN is making a major overhaul of its daytime lineup and axing three live news shows, Across America With Carol Costello, Michaela and Crime & Justice With Ashleigh Banfield.
The three hosts, prominent anchors Carol Costello, Michaela Pereira and Ashleigh Banfield, will all host their last shows Friday, Oct. 26, and the network’s new lineup will kick in Monday, Oct. 29.
As part of that new lineup, Morning Express With Robin Meade will now run for six hours, from 6 a.m. to 12 p.m. The show On the Story will also get an additional hour, running from 12 p.m. to 3 p.m.
HLN head Ken Jautz announced the changes in a memo to staffers Tuesday, provided to The Hollywood Reporter. “The current cable news landscape is dominated by politics,” he said. “Our live news shows have not benefitted from this trend given our story mix. However, HLN’s longform programs have been performing very well.”

Jautz continued: “In today’s news environment, every network has to focus on its strengths. To ensure HLN’s growth, we will shift some of our resources from live to longform programming and produce our live shows in as streamlined a manner as possible. The best way to do this is to centralize production of live news programming in Atlanta.”
The network will no longer produce live shows in New York in Los Angeles, the executive said.
“We built a top-notch lineup of some of the best anchors and show teams in the industry, and we are proud of what we’ve accomplished together these past few years,” Jautz said.
S.E. Cupp, one of HLN’s most prominent hosts, recently moved her S.E. Cupp Unfiltered show to CNN. Erica Hill also did the same this spring.
Banfield, a veteran anchor, moved from CNN to HLN to host a primetime show back in 2016.
