NEW ORLEANS — Two new faces will be joining the WWL-TV morning news. On Friday, News Director Nicole Waivers announced that Brandon Walker and Brheanna Boudreaux will be joining in the next few weeks.

Brandon Walker is from Algiers and is a proud graduate of St. Augustine High School. The Emmy and Murrow award-winning anchor began his career in news in New Orleans during high school as a desk assistant at WGNO. Then, he hosted the Purple Pride Show, St. Aug’s alumni affairs program on Cable Access TV. He also worked the assignment desk in the days leading and following Hurricane Katrina.

Walker worked at CBS News’ national desk as a desk assistant before stops reporting in western Massachusetts, upstate New York, and Southwest Connecticut. He most recently worked in Houston, first as a reporter, then as an anchor. He’s reported on everything from hurricanes along the East Coast to the trial of Derek Chauvin, the Minneapolis Police Officer convicted in the death of George Floyd. He’s focused on politics, courts, schools, and issues of equity in his reporting. He also loves stories about food!

Brheanna Boudreaux grew up constantly on the move as the daughter of an Army soldier. But she says Louisiana was the first place that felt like ‘home.’ She met her husband Hunter, a native New Orleanian, at a Pelicans game. She got her journalism start in Lafayette and also worked in Sioux Falls, SD, and Norfolk, VA. She also served in the Louisiana Army National Guard. She’s a mom to 3 young girls, ages 3, 2 and 1.

Boudreaux is coming to WWL from ABC13 in Houston, where she was an anchor, reporter, and traffic anchor. She covered a number of major weather events, including hurricanes. She also covered high-profile stories like the Uvalde Elementary school shooting. She also spent two years investigating the story of three men who were wrongfully imprisoned for 20+ years. Her series on their stories, originating from letters they wrote to her while locked up, resulted in the eventual release of all three men.

Brandon and Brheanna will make their on-air debut, alongside Eric Paulsen and Leslie Spoon, on October 16th.

In addition,  Waivers announced that Spoon will be installed as the full-time anchor of the Eyewitness News at Noon. Leslie has been a familiar face for WWL-TV viewers for the last six years, and I'm excited to have her at the helm of this important daypart. Leslie will still take on some anchoring duties with the morning team. She'll be able to bring her knowledge of the region and sports acumen to morning and noon viewers. Leslie will begin her new role on Monday, November 27.
