We’ve got bad news for fans of The Other Two: Thursday’s third season finale will now serve as the comedy’s series finale.
Co-showrunners Chris Kelly and Sarah Schneider maintain that the seemingly abrupt decision to end the series was a creative one.
“It is bittersweet to say goodbye to the Dubek family after three seasons, but we always knew, both creatively and personally, that this was where we wanted to end their stories,” they said in a joint statement. “And because we are quite literally out of ways to humiliate Drew Tarver, so what’s the point?”
The statement continues: “We are deeply grateful to everyone (gays) who watched the show, to Max for giving us a second home and life, and to our writers, producers and crew, who gave so much of their time, talent, and passion to this show over the last 45ish years. And finally, an enormous thank you to Heléne, Drew, Molly, Case, Wanda, Josh, Brandon, and everyone in our brilliant cast (except Ken) who all made this show better than it had any right to be, and who we will miss terribly (especially Ken). Long live ChaseDreams. #chasedreams #globsaregay #feet.”
The Other Two, which originally aired on Comedy Central before relocating to Max, starred Drew Tarver and Helene Yorke as Cary and Brooke Dubek, the siblings of overnight pop sensation Chase (Case Walker). The series also starred Ken Marino, Molly Shannon, Brandon Scott Jones and Josh Segarra.
TVLine’s Streaming TV Scorecard has been updated to reflect The Other Two‘s cancellation. Are you ready to say goodbye to the Dubek family? Drop a comment with your thoughts below.
Very sad about this news. This is one of the few comedies that actually makes me laugh!
can·cel·la·tion
noun
noun: cancelation
the action of canceling something that has been arranged or planned.
“the project was threatened with cancellation”
This one really hurts, and i think that if they really thought this would be the finale they should have announced it like the final season…. but well, hope they don’t take it out of max so i can rewatch
This is horrible news. Not a surprise though- probably would be cancelling my Max subscription if it weren’t free though my cell carrier…
Darn. This season had some of the best writing ever. Hopefully we see them all in new projects soon especially Case
Well, it probably goes without saying, but this news (whisper-tone) stinks stinks stinks stinks. Even the walls stink! I will miss this show. I hope it ends with Lance and Curtis getting some long-overdue respect and Brooke and Cary showing some real potential for emotional growth while still being their messy selves.
Boo!! I really loved this show!
Honestly not surprised at all, I adore the show but every renewal felt like a miracle and now with Warner imploding it felt like another season was even more difficult to happen
This sucks! They definitely needed another season or two to redeem themselves. What a bummer.
Been wanting to try this, but I can’t watch anything with Brandon Scott Jones since he helped ruin The Good Place – I’ve no clue if those were all intentional writing/character choices, but John, Brent & Simone were absolutely terrible.
So I dunno if the US Ghosts is as good as the original, or if this lives up to the hype, because maybe he is just *that* good at playing a douche!
Is he douchey in this as well?
Not at all, his character Curtis is lovely and a great bs caller for Cary.
IMO, his character has the most heart on this show. Curtis is a fantastic character with great growth and depth, and he plays him impeccably. That crew wasn’t my favorite on The Good Place, but I wouldn’t say they ruined it. His character was a pretty exact foil to Tehani, which is what they were going for, after all. So it seems your issue there was with the writers, not the actors?
That’s a shame. This is a great show. It will be missed.
Except Ken, lol. I love Ken Marino. I’ll miss this show.
Story-wise, I think it would be really hard for the showrunners to follow the craziness of this third season, with all main characters reaching ridiculous levels of success. I’ll miss this show, but I’m glad it’s headed for a planned conclusion.
Not a big surprise after the Hollywood Reporter’s article today.
Molly Shannon deserves better. Two shows of hers cancelled in the last few weeks.
This show has been consistently funny from episode to episode. Season 3 has been on another level. I truly think it’s Emmy-worthy. I’m so sad at this news! I was late to the show, discovering it in 2021, but now I tell everyone I know to watch. It’s so niche and smart with its jokes, though.
Season 3 was phenomenal, I am devastated.
What the actual fork.
This show is hilarious
I wish I didn’t know this, since I’ve been anxiously awaiting watching this tonight after midnight, but I’m glad they’re going out on their terms. I’m going to miss this crazy family.
No shocker. Season 3 is hard to get thru. Is Molly and the son even part of the show anymore.
The first season was wonderful, the second was fair, and the third was horrible. Not surprised there won’t be more episodes.
What a bummer of a way to end. The season itself was pretty bad IMO, they turned Cary and Brooke into monsters and took out all the heart with Pat and Chase.
I rewatched season 2 in anticipation of season 3 and was really stoked – season 2 was so sharp and hilarious, I couldn’t wait. Sadly, though, I’ve found this season to be difficult to get through – partly because of how insufferable both Carey and Brooke have become, but also because of how outlandish and cartoony the storylines have become.
I get it, it’s a satire – the more these characters achieve what they want (or think they want), the more ridiculous their lives get. But between Pat being a billionaire, Carey entering a literal black and white world, Brooke being literally invisible, Brooke being shot into space, Brooke wearing prosthetics this week and acting like a wee old lady… funny, sure, but just too much of a suspension of disbelief.
That said, this is not a comment on the actors – I love them. Love Drew, Helene, Molly, et al., and the fight between Brooke and Lance was one of the best scenes in the entire series. I’d vowed to keep watching till the end… which I guess will be right around the corner. I just wish the writers had reined it in a little instead of going outright bonkers far too quickly.
Where is the second complete season of Star Trek: Strange New Worlds? They were all there at Paramount+ over the weekend, but when I went to finish off watching the second episode of season two, episodes three thru ten were no longer available.
I won’t be watching season three until I watch all of season two. That is, if those season two episodes ever show back up on Paramount +.
If I knew I had to put up with this type of nonsense, I never would have signed up for Paramount +.
Star Trek is like a weekly TV show. Every week a new episode like all the other Star Treks. They want you to watch, not binge and cancel. Did you not know this before you signed up?
I am talking about least season’s episodes, season two. And they were all available over the weekend. I am not talking about the current season. I can understand the current season being available once a week, but I do not understand the entirety of last season all of a sudden being pulled. All of season one is available for all to see. Season two doesn’t have the full season available any longer. As of this typing, three episodes of the ten are available for season two. The new season, season three is airing now, one episode per week. It makes no sense to start watching season three when I haven’t seen season two.
I don’t have the time to binge watch anything. I watch maybe a couple of hours here or there every day or so..
