Chelsea Handler will return to host this year’s Critics Choice Awards, the Critics Choice Association announced on Friday.
The comedian hosted the annual awards show last year. This year’s show will take place on Jan. 14 and will air live on The CW.
“I am very happy and excited to be hosting the Critics Choice Awards again this year, as last year was one of the most fun nights I’ve had,” Handler said in a statement. “There is no greater reward than making fun of actors and then getting drunk with them afterward. It’s an honor.”

Adds CCA CEO Joey Berlin: “We are thrilled to have Chelsea Handler join us once again to host the Critics Choice Awards. After having her as our host last year, we couldn’t wait to have her back up on the stage again.”
Handler is a comedian, television host, six-time New York Times best-selling author and advocate. She hosted E!’s Chelsea Lately for me seven years, which made her the only female late-night talk show host on air, and then she launched her documentary series Chelsea Does, followed by her talk show Chelsea on Netflix in 2016. She has also written six books and in 2012 launched her iHeartRadio podcast called Dear Chelsea. She’s done two tours across North America and won the Comedy Act of 2021 award at the People’s Choice Awards.
In 2020, her comedy special Evolution earned her a best comedy album Grammy, and then Handler made her return to Netflix with her 2022 comedy special Revolution. She is currently on her 2023 stand-up tour called Little Big Bitch.
Last year, the comedian told The Hollywood Reporter that the invitation to host the awards show came right on time. “My new attitude is to say yes to more things. It’s a nice change of pace,” she said.
