The CW‘s 2020-21 season is set to begin in earnest in January.
The network has scheduled winter premiere dates for a dozen shows, including network cornerstones The Flash and Riverdale. Newcomers Walker, starring Jared Padalecki, and Superman & Lois will join the lineup alongside returning shows All American, Batwoman (with new lead Javicia Leslie), Black Lightning, Charmed, Legacies and Nancy Drew.
The CW will also air a second season of its anthology Two Sentence Horror Stories and has acquired a Canadian drama, Trickster, to help fill out the schedule in advance of late February debuts for The Flash and Superman & Lois.
Supergirl‘s final season, Legends of Tomorrow, Dynasty, In the Dark, Roswell, New Mexico, and rookies Kung Fu and The Republic of Sarah will join the schedule later in the season.
Unscripted shows Whose Line Is It Anyway and Penn & Teller: Fool Us will move to Fridays starting Jan. 8, and the network will air the Critics Choice Super Awards, honoring genre films and TV series, on Jan. 10. Six of the eight returning scripted shows will debut between Jan. 17 and Jan. 24, with Black Lightning, The Flash and Superman & Lois set for February.
Production on most of The CW’s series, like those of hundreds of other TV and movie projects, was pushed back due to the coronavirus pandemic. The network opted to fill its fall slate with unscripted and acquired shows, including Canadian import Coroner and DC Universe and CBS All Access castoffs Swamp Thing and Tell Me a Story, pushing its regular lineup until the first quarter of 2021.
