Ratings: Found Returns to Audience Low With Softer La Brea Lead-In
In the latest TV ratings, CBS’ NCIS: Sydney was Tuesday’s most-watched program, while ABC’s Celebrity Jeopardy! and Fox’s The Floor tied for the nightly demo win.
CBS | Back from the holiday break, NCIS: Sydney delivered 4.7 million total viewers (dipping to a possible audience low) and its sixth straight 0.3 demo rating.
NBC | Night Court (3.3 mil/0.3) dipped in both measures, while Extended Family (2.7 mil/0.3) only lost eyeballs. La Brea opened its six-episode farewell run with 2.4 million viewers and a 0.2 rating (and a TVLine reader grade of “C+”), down from its sophomore averages and tying its demo low. No longer enjoying a Voice lead-in, the already-renewed Found returned to an audience low (2.35 mil) and its fifth straight 0.3 rating.
ABC | Leading out of Celeb Jeop! (4.4 mil/0.4), Wave 2 of Only Murders in the Building “reruns” averaged 2.3 mil and a 0.2, down from last week’s tallies.
FOX | Name That Tune (1.7 mil/0.3) and Week 2 of The Floor (2.5 mil/0.4) were both steady.
THE CW | Inside the NFL (315K) added some viewers.

Demo matters the most so glad Found was steady in the demo. Night Court still doing decent. I don’t see Extended Family doing so well in the future.

I do think that Found was lucky to get renewed because of the strike. The mind games and manipulation at the start were good and the early suggestion of something romantic between the two of them (however weird it may have been) and him helping/pretty much solving their cases every week to keep the two of them in each others orbit made for good TV. Obviously they have changed course but (for me) his character is the whole reason that I watch the show. Gabbi is a complete hypocrite. I think the reason why he kidnapped her was because he thought that she was living in a home where her father didn’t care about her and he was projecting his childhood full of abuse and neglect and Sir felt that he could save Gabbi from something similar. What exactly is her reason? If next season Sir spends it on the run away from Gabbi, it will get old quickly for me. The case of the week are always easy to solve and the rest of the cast are not exactly interesting.
What I don’t get is why they all refer to him as “Sir,” even the PD. They know his real name. Gabi knew him before the kidnapping. He was her teacher. Why do they all call him by his alias like his real name is some unknown quantity?
That and if she really wanted to turn him in, she could have just set it up so that it looked as though he was stalking her (which it turns out he was) and call the cops on him. Then she gets out of any charges – who are they going to believe. I think MPG is a great baddie but he needs character development too.
She spent over a year forced to call him Sir. It sticks. It’s how she thinks of him, it’s part of how the power he retains over her is symbolised in the show, and it also served to protect the reveal of who it was early on.
It’s also sometimes mentally useful to give people a nickname or euphemism instead of using their real name as a way to depower them or avoid/minimise triggers.
The law doesn’t keep calling you by your nickname once you are identified.
You sound like you’re trying to JUSTIFY why he kidnapped her but is outraged that she kidnapped him. WTH?
Once a show has seemingly found an audience does the lead in really matter? Only speaking for myself if I’ve found a show that I like and want to continue to watch I could care less about what show is on before it.
I’ve been dong this for a minute, and seeing as how numbers invariably decline when a lead-in worsens, I’d say there remains a correlation.

I would venture that any decline in viewership that is observed is the people who DO tend to stick around after the lead-in, those for whom the show (e.g. Found) is NOT “appointment television.”

La Brea. Worse show ever!! I quit watching last season,and just couldn’t bring myself to watch again. The acting was simply embarrassing!
I really like Found. I totally understand why she kidnapped him. I often think that people should get the same punishment that they give. She’s smart though so I just don’t know why she wold keep him in the basement of her home. It keeps me on my toes without a lot of unncessary gruesomeness.
