After eight years of a strong unscripted performance on Saturday nights, OWN is expanding its reality programming to Fridays with another two-hour block.
News of the growth accompanies two new series orders — one from OWN vet Will Packer (Ready to Love) and another from Carlos King (Love & Marriage: Huntsville).
“Expanding to two nights with our unscripted shows gives our loyal viewers even more of the programming they’re super passionate about,” said OWN president Tina Perry. “Over the years, OWN has established Saturday nights as the leading destination for Black women focusing on unscripted programs in the love and relationship space and we look forward to continuing that momentum on Friday nights this fall.”
Friday will be the Packer block, with Ready to Love‘s second season leading into newcomer Put a Ring on It starting Oct. 23. Another unscripted relationship series, Put a Ring on It follows three longtime couples as they waffle between calling it a day and making their respective commitments official. It is produced by Will Packer Media and Lighthearted Entertainment.
On Saturdays, the seventh season of long-running OWN series Iyanla: Fix My Life will anchor the night at 9 o’clock. After its two-hour premiere airs on Oct. 31, King’s Behind Every Man enters the schedule on Nov. 7. From Kingdom Reign Entertainment and LostNThought Productions, the show focuses on the women behind famous men such as Krk Franklin, Ney-Oh, Lamar Odom, Usher and Big Sean.
