NBC Sunday Night Football‘s broadcast of the Bengals’ win over the Bills averaged 14. 9 million total viewers and a 3.8 demo rating, surging 19% and 12% from last week’s early numbers for Chargers/Bears.
Over on The CW, The Chosen‘s Season 3 premiere drew 547K and just barely a 0.1 rating, hitting and matching CW highs for the acquired series.
Enjoying a rrrrobust NFL lead-in (I presume), The Simpsons (4.4 mil/1.4) easily hit season highs, as did Bob’s Burgers (1.5 mil/0.5) and Family Guy (1.3 mil/0.4). Krapopolis (1.9 mil/0.6) meanwhile matched its second-best numbers yet.
CBS’ Yellowstone double-pump did 4.4 mil/0.3 and 3.8 mil/0.3, after which Big Brother (2.5 mil/0.3) slipped to a Sunday demo low for this cycle.
ABC’s AFV (3.7 mil/0.4) dropped some eyeballs.

The Live+Same Day numbers reported in our ratings column do not reflect a show’s overall performance, given the increased use of delayed playback via DVR and streaming platforms, plus out-of-home viewing. These numbers (Nielsen fast nationals, unless denoted as finals) instead aim to simply illustrate trends or superlatives. I thought all the animated programs had their episodes completed pre strike. I read that’s why there was no Halloween episode of Bobs Burgers. They do one every year, I hope there’s still gonna be a Christmas episode.
The Chosen is proving to be quite a hit for The CW.
On last night’s Bob’s Burgers episode, I am disappointed that they had Jimmy Pesto return after Jay Johnston was fired; he should have just been killed off in the movie. And I’m even more disappointed that Eric Bauza (a generic voice actor) was chosen to replace Mr. Johnston in that role. Eric Bauza had no on-camera acting experience before appearing on Bob’s Burgers the first time (as Bob’s father), unlike all of the other main and guest actors on BB. I hope he doesn’t get invited back on BB solely to replace another actor (especially for a female character) unless he gets an on-camera acting role for real.
The Simpsons was the Treehouse of Horror episode.
That was not the cause of its season high.

CBS, with the strike, is smart to broadcast Yellowstone. Years ago they tried, and failed, to do similar with Showtime’s Dexter.
Typically, a show needs to demonstrate promise for future syndication for CBS to nothing airing. Even programing that would be deemed a moderate hit on another network, such as Magnum PI, don’t make the cut; however, in the era of post peak TV networks like CBS need to remember that cable, streaming and broadcast all reach unique demos hence half of Yellowstone’s audience being first time viewers.
The post modern network, aside from hitmaker CBS, will more and more begin to resemble cable
Big Brother wasn’t on CBS Sunday night. CBS aired the first 2 episodes of Bass Reeve, leaving me wanting to how how it did in the ratings.
