On most Survivor seasons, once the torches are snuffed, the story is over. Until now.
On Wednesday, March 1 (after CBS‘ two-hour Season 44 premiere at 8/7c), Host-master General Jeff Probst will launch On Fire With Jeff Probst, the show’s first-ever official podcast, on all major podcast platforms. New episodes will go live each Wednesday following the conclusion of that week’s broadcast.
“I’m very excited to share that, for the first time in 22 years, we’re doing an official Survivor podcast,” said host, showrunner and executive producer Probst. “We’re going to go inside the making of Survivor from the producers’ point of view [for] the how we do ,what we do and the why. I think of it like a companion piece to the show. It’s something we’ve thought about doing in years past, but this season is so good, it just felt like the perfect time.”
Joining Probst on the pod will be Survivor producer Brittany Crapper and podcast producer Jay Wolff, as they take fans behind the scenes of the latest episode and share some of the secrets of how they make the show. In addition, Probst will answer audience questions and take part in a fan segment called “Why Jeff Sucks.” (As if we weren’t already intrigued!)
“Our hope is that our fans will feel a deeper connection to the show because we’re going to use each episode as a jumping off point to take you inside the art department or the casting process,” Probst elaborated in a promo video. “How do we put somebody on the show? Or how do we come up with our ideas? And why so many idols, Probst?! Those kinds of things.”

Still begging for a season free of the P(uzzle) word. I am so sick of them! There has to be some other way to do challenges, like maybe survival related events.
It’s in the secret sauce.
Puzzles are fine but US Survivor is too reliant on them. There should be an equal distribution of mental and physical challenges. Not all of them need to end in a puzzle.
Season 43 was an improvement – at least in terms of branching out from the same challenges they’ve recycled for the last 10 seasons.
I wonder if the renewal announced yesterday was actually for Seasons 45 and 46 since the show usually films 2 seasons back-to-back. Or are they finally making the decision to make it a 1-cycle-a-year show instead of airing 2 series a year in both Fall and Spring..
It’s definitely for the next 2 cycles… survivor still ranks in the top 5 demo for cbs, and is the top rated reality program on broadcast tv that isn’t a music competition…. There’s no slowing down, and I don’t see a reason to switching to 1 season a year at this point
Great. Another thing for Probst to overproduce and overnarrate. How many times an episode do you say “Shut up Jeff”? I’m at least 3.
Why not use fan favorite Survivor stars – someone named Cirie is having a good year – to interview contestants, Jeff, producers, and give their insight?
Rob Cesternino has a podcast called:
Rob has a pod cast. He interviews casts from the current seasons. It’s a very popular podcast and they do other shows as well.
He himself was on Survivor Seasons 6 and 8
Podcasts produced by the same people that produce the shows they are about are rarely successful. The podcaster views the product through the same rose-colored glasses and won’t deep dive into ‘issues’ cause they have the same goal – promote the show and do it in a positive light. Jeff has been so out of touch with what fans actually want for far too long now so him hosting the podcast further proves this is the wrong choice.
Skip this crap and just listen to the plethora of RHAP episodes they produce weekly instead for a fair, yet critical, analysis and deep dive of each weekly episode.
I’d like Ozzy to come back
