Wendy Aylsworth — who spend more than two decades in tech roles as Warner Bros., most recently as senior vp technology, and was the first woman president of the Society of Motion Picture and Television Engineers — will receive the Charles F. Jenkins Lifetime Achievement Award at the Television Academy’s Engineering Emmy Awards.
Earlier in her career, at The Walt Disney Company, Aylsworth directed technology support for the feature animation division. She currently serves as CEO of the tech firm Walden Pond and president of UltraViolet.
Also during the Engineering Emmy Awards ceremony, which will be held Oct. 24 at the JW Marriott Hotel, Los Angeles, at L.A. LIVE, Avid will be presented with the Philo T. Farnsworth Corporate Achievement Award. Avid is best known as the developer of the widely used Media Composer editing software.
Five Engineering Emmys will be presented during the ceremony. They will be awarded for the Artemis Director’s Viewfinder, cineSync review and approval system, Codex recording platform and capture media, Blue Mix-Fi headphones and GroundControl Followspot system.
Also during the evening, an Engineering Plaque will be awarded to the makers of the CATS Cam for wildlife filmmakers.
Kirsten Vangsness, star of the CBS drama Criminal Minds, will return to host the awards for the third consecutive year.
