MTV has tapped Adam Devine (Workaholics) to host the 2017 MTV Movie & TV Awards, set to air live on Sunday, May 7, from L.A.’s Shrine Auditorium. Nominees will be announced Thursday morning.
MTV announced last month that after 25 years, its trophy show was getting a makeover, expanding to recognize TV series along with features. It’s also is going back to a live show this year, after being pre-taped in 2016.
Nominees are decided by producers and executives at MTV with winners chosen online by the general public.
Casey Patterson will serve as executive producer for the second consecutive year, with MTV’s Garrett English.
Devine is a star and co-creator of Comedy Central’s Workaholics, as well as Adam Devine’s House Party. He also plays Andy on ABC’s Emmy-winning comedy Modern Family.
