Amy Poehler‘s production company Paper Kite has renewed its deal with Universal Television. Under the extended agreement, NBC has given a pilot production commitment to scripted comedy “The Baby,” starring Seann William Scott. The project is set to be executive produced by writer Craig DiGregorio with Scott, Poehler, Paper Kite’s Brooke Posch, Dave Becky and Nick Frenkel.
Under the extended deal, Paper Kite, co-headed by Poehler and Posch, will produce scripted projects for Universal Television as well as unscripted projects for the newly formed Universal Television Alternative Studio.
“Amy has been at the very top of our roster of producers at Universal Television for some time now and we’re so happy to renew and expand our relationship with her for our two studios,” said NBC Entertainment chairman Robert Greenblatt. “For many years she’s been part of the NBCU family, first with ‘Saturday Night Live’ and then, of course, with the stellar ‘Parks and Recreation,’ so it only seems fitting that she remain with the company. We look forward to a variety of projects from her for NBC and other networks as she extends her creative vision into more producing and directing.”
“The Baby” is based on an idea from Scott and Poehler. Scott is set to star as the youngest male in an organized crime family of all women, including a mother and seven older sisters who mercilessly push him around at home. The show is produced by Universal Television, Paper Kite Productions and 3 Arts Entertainment.

Paper Kite produces Comedy Central’s “Broad City” and Hulu’s “Difficult People.” The extension and pilot production commitment are the first significant deals for Universal Television since the studio was reorganized this month with Pearlena Igbokwe taking over for Bela Bajaria as president and Meredith Ahr being named president of the new Alternative Studio.

Scott, whose credits include “Goon,” “Role Models” and “American Pie” is represented by ICM Partners, 3 Arts and Sloane, Offer, Weber & Dern.
