Spanish-language broadcaster Azteca America announced a new hour of interactive family entertainment, three new telenovelas and the acquisition of hit Turkish series Kaçak (The Fugitive), along with the continuation of its successful sports franchise Friday Night Futbol, among other initiatives at its upfront today in NYC.
The network is launching La Hora Ganadora (The Winning Hour) at 7 PM, an hourlong block of interactive family programming. New on Azteca’s 2015-16 slate are telenovelas Caminos de Guanajuato (The Roads of Guanajuato), which tells the story of Gilberto Coronel, a man without scruples who is forced to start anew as a result of a head injury from a botched shooting; Tanto Amor (So Much Love), a classic love story in which the protagonists are unaware about their true origins but are brought together by fate; and La Promesa (The Promise) about three children who live temporarily in an orphanage in Mexico City. Returning shows on Azteca’s slate include Venga la Alegria and Ventaneando.
On the digital front, Azteca announced two new partnerships with Google and Adobe.
