CBS announced premiere dates for the 2011-12 season, with an official fall launch date of Sept. 19.
The network’s first Monday evening of the fall will feature new comedy 2 Broke Girls, which gets a plum special series premiere spot behind Two and a Half Man. The latter is expected to get an early boost from new hire Ashton Kutcher, who is replacing Charlie Sheen.
While the network will roll out much of its programming the week of Sept 19, a new iteration of Survivor will air a week earlier and new entry How to Be a Gentleman and returning sitcom Mike & Molly will come a week later.
The Big Bang Theory will return Sept. 22 with back-to-back episodes, following the premiere of J.J. Abrams vehicle Person of Interest.
“Our playbook is pretty consistent: wherever and whenever possible, we use established successful series to introduce new shows,” said Kelly Kahl, senior executive vp of CBS Primetime. “We’ve also asked a couple of our strongest series to work overtime during premiere week in order to support the new series and bolster our performance.”
The announcement comes a month after CBS clinched another season as the No. 1 network in total viewers and finished second behind Fox in the coveted 18-to-49 demographic.
