CBS will have at least one premiere every week for most of the fall. The network on Tuesday announced its rollout, and there’s something new from Sept. 15 through Oct. 27.
CBS can again thank Thursday Night Football, this year split with both the NFL Network and NBC, for the extended launchpad. Its first telecast of primetime NFL is on Sept. 15, with “docu-thriller” Case Closed launching three nights later. The six-part look into the JonBenet Ramsey murder will have some extreme competition, however, with the network scheduling the first part against NBC’s Sunday Night Football and ABC’s telecast of the 2016 Emmy Awards.

Premiere week includes more of Case Closed, the return of The Big Bang Theory, NCIS, NCIS: New Orleans, Survivor, Hawaii Five-0 and Blue Bloods. On the new series front, Kevin Can Wait (Sept. 19), Bull (Sept. 20) and MacGyver (Sept. 23) also join the schedule that week. It’s an early launch for MacGyver, the only new series of the fall that’s reshooting its pilot episode (Furious 7 helmer James Wan recently signed on to direct the retooled project, which is switching up much of the cast).
The Sunday block returns after the Sept. 25 conclusion of Case Closed, with the new lineup of NCIS: Los Angeles, Madam Secretary and Elementary joining the schedule on Oct. 2.
Thursday returns its normal, comedy-heavy block after the conclusion of Thursday Night Football. Big Bang Theory shifts into its anchor slot on Oct. 27, with The Great Indoors, Mom, Life in Pieces and Pure Genius all joining the schedule that night.
