And she's getting a visit out of it!

Katie Couric is apologizing for sticking her foot -- er, skate -- in her mouth during the 2018 Winter Olympics opening ceremonies.

The veteran news anchor and interviewer mistakenly said that the Dutch are so successful in speed skating because skates have been used as a form of transportation when canals freeze in the Netherlands. She was immediately dragged in meme form for her outdated information.

Couric finally apologized on Monday, Feb. 12 when the Netherlands Embassy reached out to invite Couric to the country to see how they actually get around in 2018. "Congrats #Netherlands on your [medal] count so far! My apologies for being on thin ice for my comments re: skating on canals. I was trying to salute your historical passion for the sport but it didn't come out that way! I'd [love] to visit again & celebrate your success!" she said on Twitter.

Honestly, if you're going to globally embarrass yourself like this, might as well get an awesome trip out of it. Way to be a good sport, Katie.
