Dick Clark Productions is bringing in ABC’s Mark Bracco. The company announced Monday that the Alphabet net’s vp alternative series and specials has been tapped to oversee programming and development.
Bracco assumes the newly created position of executive vp programming and development, where he will continue to work on such ABC fare as The American Music Awards and Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve With Ryan Seacrest.
“Mark has a phenomenal breadth of experience working with a variety of alternative and special programming, as well as extensive experience with Dick Clark properties,” said Dick Clark Productions president Mike Mahan. “As Dick Clark Productions expands our television footprint, Mark will play a significant leadership role within the company.”
While at ABC, Bracco oversaw such specials as the annual Oscars telecast, the CMA Awards, Shark Tank, Super Nanny and the Emmy-winning Jamie Oliver’s Food Revolution. The news comes after a year of changes in ABC’s reality ranks, where topper John Saade was replaced by E! alum Lisa Berger. Her first big play, singing competition Rising Star (itself a co-production between Dick Clark and Keshet) premieres in June.
“It is an honor to work for such a historic company as Dick Clark Productions, under the leadership of Allen Shapiro and Mike Mahan, who are responsible for some of the biggest television events in the world,” added Bracco. “My first love is live television, and DCP is the preeminent producer of live events on television. This is a dream come true.”
Bracco will be based out of Dick Clark Productions’ Santa Monica headquarters.
Dick Clark Productions and The Hollywood Reporter are both owned by affiliates of Guggenheim Partners.
