This week’s episode of “Empire” is currently at a new low for the Fox music drama in both key ratings measures, according to Nielsen overnight data.
Airing at 8 p.m., “Empire” averaged a 1.8 rating in adults 18-49 and 5.5 million total viewers. While that is not down significantly from last week’s episode (2.0, 5.9 million), it is nevertheless below the previous series low set by episode 15 of Season 3 (1.9, 5.6 million). There is of course the possibility that the show will adjust up when the final numbers come in later today. “Empire” has also consistently shown significant lift in delayed viewing.
Later on Fox, “Star” (1.3, 4.3 million) was down slightly in the demo.
On CBS, “Survivor” (1.7, 8 million) was even, while “SEAL Team” (1.0, 7 million) was down in both measures. “Criminal Minds” (1.1, 5.91) was even.
On NBC, “The Blacklist” (0.9, 5.3 million) dipped slightly in the demo, while “Law & Order: SVU” (1.2, 5.6 million) and “Chicago PD” (1.1, 5.7 million) were even.

On ABC, “The Goldbergs” (1.4, 5.5 million), “Speechless” (1.1, 4.3 million), “Modern Family” (1.7, 6.1 million), and “American Housewife” (1.4, 5.1 million) were all even. “Designated Survivor” (0.8, 4.4 million) was down slightly in the demo.
For The CW, “Riverdale” (0.6, 1.8 million) was down in both measures from last week’s season premiere. “Dynasty” (0.3, 0.98 million) held steady in the demo but dropped in total viewers.
Fox won the night in the demo with a 1.5 but finished fourth in total viewers with 4.9 million. CBS was second in the demo with a 1.3 but first in total viewers with 7 million. ABC was third overall with a 1.2 and 5 million total viewers. NBC was fourth in the demo with a 1.1 but second in total viewers with 5.5 million. The CW averaged a 0.5 and 1.4 million viewers.
