Billy on the Street is taking his game to Hulu.
The streaming service has nabbed SVOD rights to the first five seasons of the truTV comedy starring comedian Billy Eichner.
This pact marks the first time a truTV series has been licensed to Hulu. It is an extension of the Turner-owned network’s pact with the streamer, first inked in 2015.
All 42 episodes of Billy on the Street from the first four seasons will stream on Hulu, with the fifth season available next year after the original variety show’s first run concludes on truTV. Season five debuts in the fall on truTV.
“As an incredibly popular and creatively inventive show in truTV’s portfolio, Billy on the Street has cultivated a passionate fan base that actively seeks out the show and embraces Billy’s unique comedic talent and obsession with pop culture,” truTV president Chris Linn said. “This partnership with Hulu gives us a great opportunity to both super-serve those existing fans and also introduce the show and our network to new audiences.”
The Billy on the Street deal extends Hulu’s relationship with Eichner, who also stars in his own scripted comedy series on the platform: Difficult People, which returns for its second season July 12 on Hulu.
