ION Television is adding police drama series “Rookie Blue” from the Disney-ABC Television Group to its general entertainment lineup.
“We’re excited to enter into this agreement with the Disney-ABC Television Group and provide our audience with this fresh, new police drama,” said Brandon Burgess, Chairman and CEO of ION Media Networks, in a prepared statement. “‘Rookie Blue’ fits seamlessly with our current roster of hit series and reinforces our commitment to viewers.”
Pick-up comes on the heels of a number of programming announcements from ION, including the acquisition of “Blue Bloods” and a co-production deal for the original series “The Listener.” ION has developed a portfolio of popular series picked up from broadcast and cable, including “Criminal Minds,” “Cold Case” and “Law & Order: Criminal Intent,” “Burn Notice,” “Psych” and “Leverage.”
