Inside, KETV is working with preservationists to maintain the building's history, while transforming it into a 21st century media facility.

The Grand Hall now has an opening again, just as it did when the building first opened a century ago.

Once all the work is finished, the opening will provide a view down into the new KETV NewsWatch 7 newsroom.

The news operation and studios will be located on track level, and the existing subway tile on the walls and ceilings are being saved and refurbished.

On the main floor, experts will soon begin work to restore the ornate ceiling just off the main hall.

The original tile floor and marble archways will be restored to their original look.

There is still much work ahead, though.  Construction crews and engineers are digging deep to provide more support for the changes, while preserving what's stood for a century.
