Meghan McCain has officially forfeit her seat at the Hot Topics table.
The View‘s Season 24 finale doubled as McCain’s swan song, following the conservative commentator’s previous announcement that she would not return for the daytime talk show’s landmark 25th season, premiering in September.
At the end of Friday’s show, the outgoing panelist took a moment to reflect on her four-season run.
“I don’t know what else to say, other than thank you so much… for the privilege and honor that it has been to work on this show,” she began. “It really has been incredible. It will be referenced in everything I do for the rest of my life. You women have been so incredible to work with. The crew, the producers… everyone works so hard.” She also gave special thanks to the audience “for giving me four years to give my opinion and show my perspective.
“This has been a really wild ride,” McCain continued. “It’s been the best of times and the worst of times in all ways, on and off the show. It’s been a really incredible, liberating experience, and I will always cherish the time I spent with all of you. So thank you all, from the bottom of my heart, and I hope that our executive producer Brian [Teta] can forgive me for making his blood pressure rise for the past for years, as much as I probably have.”
McCain’s farewell also featured pre-taped congratulations by former House Speaker Paul Ryan, and a virtual appearance by her mother, Cindy McCain.
“I am so proud of Meghan,” she remarked. “I think she’s done a wonderful job… Her dad would be so proud of her. I wish her the best in whatever endeavors she chooses to do, but I’m glad she chose a little bit of family over too much work right now.”
McCain had served as a conservative voice on the daytime talk show since 2017. She originally confirmed her departure on July 1. “This was not an easy decision,” she said at the time. “This show is one of the hands down greatest, most exhilarating, wonderful privileges of my entire life. It is a privilege to work alongside such strong, brilliant, intelligent, incredible broadcasters… You are the most talented women on all of television, hands down, and it has been so incredible to do this with you.”
ABC, meanwhile, put out the following statement:
“For the past four years, Meghan McCain has brought her fierce determination and vast political knowledge and experience to The View. She recently came to us with her decision to depart the show at the end of this season, a difficult choice that she made for her and her family that we respect and understand. We wish the best for Meghan as she plans her next chapter, and thank her for the passion and unique voice that she shared with us and our viewers each day.”
With McCain out, The View‘s remaining hosts include Whoopi Goldberg, Joy Behar, Sunny Hostin, Sara Haines and Ana Navarro. Original panelist Debbie Matenopoulos — who on Wednesday wrapped a five-year stint as co-host of Hallmark Channel’s Home & Family — is reportedly in “conversations” to return for Season 25.

Good Riddance.
YaHooo!! Break out the beer! So glad she is gone! just ruined the show, what a privileged little whiner!
My thought exactly! Buh-byeee!
And nobody is happier than her (former) hairstylist. No. One.
There it is.
Let’s be honest, though. The outlandish hairstyles and disturbingly inappropriate hooker makeup were Meghan’s only entertaining contributions to The View.
That and her constant sullen/argumentative attitude tested my patience!
Holy moly I’m a dude and even I can spot the misogyny here. It should be enough to say she was terrible in her job. We say the same thing about a man right?
I’d rather see Ana Navarro on full-time or have someone like Tara Setmayer or S.E. Cupp join the panel as a sane conservative voice rather than have Debbie Matenopoulos return. Showcasing differing perspectives is this show’s strength and I don’t want to see that go away, even though I’m glad Meghan is going away.
Ana Navarro isn’t actually conservative though, which is why she knows she isn’t getting the full-time slot.
She actually is. You should have seen her pre Trump. But she isn’t THAT kind of Conservative m, she actually understands doing what’s best for the Country before the Party.
Yep.
What ever the party is now. Is not repb
No, she isn’t. Take Trump out of the equation, plenty of conservatives didn’t vote for him. She’s bragged about voting for and/or supporting actual liberals over conservatives.
Like I said, she’s not getting the full-time slot for a reason.
The reason she isn’t getting the full time slot is actually that she has no desire to relocate to NY. She flies in once a week for the Friday shows, and wants to maintain her home base in Miami. That is not possible with the show returning to the studio and all hosts expected to be working from the NYC studio.
Tara Setmayer, great thought!!
Good, now I can watch The View again.
I know! I can’t stand hearing an opposing viewpoint to the approved groupthink. :-)
I can’t stand trolls who can’t go more than 114 seconds at a time before she vomits out who her father is.
Because no one knew.
kthxbye
I wonder if she’s related to John McCain, she should have talked about her family once in a while, now we’ll never know.
Hahaha
😅😅😅
Lara Trump…the empty chair is calling…
She already is an empty chair.
Truth. Plus hasn’t the world seen enough of every Trump except maybe Mary.
Just to clarify – is she John McCain’s daughter?
Yes
Thanks for confirming. Would never know it by listening to her. She never mentions it.
One token conservative doesn’t work. They just become the punching bag for everyone else.
She wasn’t the only Conservative on that show.
Just the stupidest.
How about the niece Mary Trump?A very smart and insightful young lady!
Good bye and good riddance. Come September, I’ll start watching again.
It’s difficult for ANY even vaguely conservative person to tolerate the crazy women on the view (and Meghan McCain is vaguely conservative). So I completely understand why she left. I have to wonder why ABC doesn’t put 2 Marxist nuts and 2 conservatives on this show. Is it possible the have taken sides?
How to say I’ve never seen the show without saying I’ve never seen the show.
She was very gracious in delivering her parting remarks. Stopped watching the View when Barbara Walters left . Meghan had to deal with the hideous behavior of Joy Behar😡 for four years . Behar is a spiteful , vicious woman who tries to tear down anyone who doesn’t adhere to her political ideology… I wish Meghan well . but she is better off not being part of this hideous group of women… God Bless…I wouldn’t waist a second of my precious time on this earth watching this show !!!!
But yet you seem to have such strong opinions considering Barbara Walters retired in 2014. How would you even know what Meghan McCain did or not did put up with? Just curious……..
It was the first time in four years she was gracious.
Since you say you didn’t watch how would you know how she was treated? She was arrogant and a know it all.
I haven’t watched the show since Barbara left neither but I don’t think Joy became nice when Barbara left. We don’t have to watch to see the headlines on what a rude person she is. I can’t stand Meghan neither, so I am not biased there. Joy treated Elisabeth Hasselbeck like crap too. They need to make it even v. all ganging up on one.
I’m doing a happy dance!
Couldn’t tolerate even one more deplorable rant spewing from the Arizona princess (at least in her warped mind.) Don’t need the vapid Debbie Matenopoulos on there, either. Wish wonderful Ana Navarro had the time to be a regular daily panelist. I adore Ana but realize how busy she is with her many other political commentary obligations. As long as Joy, Sunny and Whoopi aren’t going anywhere I might give the show another try post Meghan.
Yet she was willing to dump any and all of them under the nearest bus when it suited her.
Cindy, you might be proud of her, but many of us are wondering why this person has no manners, no courtesy, no respect for anyone.
No, I’m not going to miss her, in fact, I’ve been counting the days until She is Gone. Now I can return to watching intelligent conversation among a variety of people who actually know how to behave.
Ana Navarro, NOT Debbie Matenopolous, please. Ana Navarro IS a person with real Conservative values, who thinks instead of worshiping the golden idol.
Finally, Meghan McCai has left the building!! No more Disrespect, Cutting people off, Loud Outbursts. Looking forward to interesting conversations without the above in September. Whoopie, Joy, Sunny, Sara and Anna. I applaud ALL of you for the handling of STRESS you endured with Meghan. Enjoy your well deserve time away!!
No. She needs to be gone. She is a spoiled BRAT and always thinks she is RIGHT. Has no respect for her ELDERS thinks she’s smarter than everyone.
I personality think she has the personality of a WET NOODLE. BYE FELICIA
Her co-hosts could have been a little more caring instead of sitting there like cold witches! They could have been warmer and said something nice to her. But than again they were being honest. Meghan was being classy to them when she said her goodbye. All the best! Glad you’re out of that coven!
About time, maybe we can enjoy watching The View once again.
Can’t wait til September without the mouth of the south
It will be a refreshing change without that republican know it all.
I really used to like her because the show needed a different view point. Then she just started getting really rude, petty and sometimes childish. First it started with Joy and then with Whoopi who always tried to stay level headed even when Megan pushed her buttons. She refused to stay on topic just to make a point about something totally different from what they were talking about. It was time for her to go.
She was hired to be hated. Analyze that before you snipe.
Yes I will miss her because I am sure its hard being the only Republican . If everyone was in agreement it would be boring. By the way I am not a Republican.
.
I agree. I will miss her too.
Not sure if I’ll miss her but she did bring a different perspective which is what that show needs. I’m a Democrat but I’ve often thought they didn’t play fair with Meghan many times. Yes I’ve heard her rants and it would make me mad but I’d really like to see more fair debating on the show.
Yes Megan will be missed. She is knowledgeable, but can be a little extra at times.
I liked Meghan. The one who should leave is Joy. She’s a vile and mean human being. She’s rude and not funny. She’ll be rude and ignorant and try to cover her ignorance up like as a “joke”. She was never funny. Good luck to Meghan.
