MLB Network analyst and former Major League Baseball outfielder Darryl Hamilton was found dead Sunday in a suburban Houston home in an apparent murder-suicide, police said. He was 50.
The bodies of Hamilton and 44-year-old Monica Jordan were found late Sunday afternoon, according to the Houston Chronicle. The couple’s 13-month old son also was found in the home unharmed. Police told the Chronicle they received an emergency call about a disturbance at the home. When officers arrived, they found Hamilton near the entryway and Jordan in another part of the home. Investigators say it appeared Hamilton had been shot more than once and Jordan died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
Hamilton joined MLB Network as a studio analyst in 2013 following a more than decade-long career as an outfielder in the majors. Hamilton began his MLB career in 1988 with the Milwaukee Brewers. He went on to play with the Texas Rangers, San Francisco Giants, Colorado Rockies and most recently the New York Mets until he retired in 2001.
MLB Network remembered Hamilton on Twitter:
Hamilton previously worked for Houston media outlets KPRC (Channel 2), KFNC (97.5 FM) and KGOW (1560 AM).
