NBC was the big winner at the 35th annual Sports Emmy Awards ceremony — honoring sports programs from 2013 — held in New York City at Jazz at the Lincoln Center on Tuesday. The network took home six awards, including Outstanding Live Sports Series for its flagship Sunday Night Football.
Fox, HBO Sports and the MLB Network each received five awards, while ESPN earned four.

Bob Costas was named Outstanding Sports Personality – Studio Host, nabbing the award for the sixth straight year and a whopping 15 times in total. Among NBC’s other award winners were Mike Emrick for play-by-play personality, Cris Collinsworth for sports event analyst and Michele Tafoya for sports reporter.
Fox won Outstanding Live Sports Special for the 2013 World Series and Outstanding Playoff Coverage for the 2013 American League Championship Series. Outstanding Studio Show – Daily went to Inside the NBA on TNT: Playoffs.

Ted Turner — who owns the Atlanta Braves and TNT — was presented with the Lifetime Achievement Award. “The world of sports and news television has been forever changed by the vision of this one man,” said Malachy Wienges, chairman of the National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences, which presents the Sports Emmys, of Turner.
Among the evening’s presenters were such notable sports figures and broadcasting personalities as Michael Strahan, Michael Irvin, Hannah Storm and Julius “Dr. J” Erving.
