NBC has slotted its upcoming holiday film Dolly Parton’s Coat Of Many Colors for 9 PM Thursday, December 10. It airs one week after the network’s other holiday film The Wiz Live!, also in a Thursday slot, on December 3.
The movie, which begins production this week in Atlanta, is based on the true story of Parton’s upbringing. Set in the Tennessee Great Smoky Mountains in 1955, Coat Of Many Colors takes place inside the tightknit Parton family as they struggle to overcome devastating tragedy and discover the healing power of love, faith and a raggedy patchwork coat that helped make Parton who she is today. Alyvia Lind plays the young Parton, and Jennifer Nettles, Gerald McRaney and Ricky Schroder recently were added to the cast.
Dolly Parton’s Coat Of Many Colors is written by Pamela K. Long, who executive produces with Sam Haskell and Parton. The film is a production of Magnolia Hill Entertainment and DP Productions in association with Warner Bros. Television.
