The Paley Center for Media has added to its roster for the upcoming gala benefit celebrating television’s impact on LGBT equality. Portia de Rossi, Jesse Tyler Ferguson, Eric Stonestreet, Sean Hayes, Norman Lear and NBA star Jason Collins have been added to the lineup of talent to present at the event, to be held on Nov. 12 in Los Angeles.
ESPN is also joining as co-chair, aside previously announced co-chairs Ellen DeGeneres and Portia de Rossi, Hearst Corporation and Viacom and Paramount Pictures.
New donors to the fundraising event include A+E Networks, Tie The Knot, Jessie Tyler Ferguson, Accenture, Neal Baer, CAA, WME, UTA and the NHL Foundation, as well as additional support from Lionsgate and the David Geffen Foundation.
LGBT media advocacy organization GLAAD will also offer support.
“As we continue to strive for more inclusive programming, it’s important to recognize the groundbreaking images and stories that have reshaped the way millions of television viewers think about equality,” said Sarah Kate Ellis, GLAAD president and CEO. “The Paley Center for Media is doing critical work to preserve those images for generations to come.”
The annual gala will celebrate the role television has played in addressing LGBT equality in the past six decades and will launch an expanded LGBT media collection. Highlights to join the collection include the 1972 TV movie “That Certain Summer,” documentary “How to Survive a Plague,” Larry Kramer’s 1982 appearance on “Donahue” and key episodes of “All in the Family,” “Will & Grace,” “The Real World,” “Queer As Folk,” “Glee,” “Orange is the New Black” and more.
