Soon after the FCC approved the AT&T-DirecTV merger, AT&T and Starz reached a new deal for the distribution of such popular shows as “Outlander” and “Power.”
“AT&T and Starz have reached an agreement to continue our longstanding relationship,” the companies confirmed in a statement.
Negotiations had been under way for months before the deal was solidified hours before deadline.
The agreement comes on the heels of an Instagram post from rapper 50 Cent — who produces and stars in “Power” on Starz — accusing AT&T of racism.
“AT&T & Direct TV merger is in the government regulatory’s hand,” he said. “The biggest telecom TV deal in history, they can’t be trusted not to bully the networks. The deal hasn’t happened yet and they already pushing the limits! With racist in charge we are going to be set back.”
