The soon-to-be former reporter will help lead what promises to be an important time for Tampa's Museum of Science and Industry.

WTSP 10 News reporter Grayson Kamm is leaving the television business to help lead what promises to be an important time for Tampa's Museum of Science and Industry.

Kamm replaces Shannon Herbon, who left MOSI in early December to be the public information officer at the Florida Department of Environmental Protection (Southwest District).

"We are Tampa Bay's community-supported science center, and Grayson's experience connecting with people from all over our area — along with covering a ton of science and technology stories — make him a great fit," said MOSI CEO Molly Demeulenaere.

MOSI has been making news recently as it tries to turn around its financial picture; a communication professional there will have a full plate. There's a recent accusation of misuse of a $1.4 million donation; an abrupt resignation from a vice president; trying to raise money under a microscope to keep the museum running; and a potential move to downtown Tampa.

Kamm has been with 10 News, Tampa Bay's CBS affiliate, for about eight years. His last day on the air will be Jan. 15.

"Because so many people in our community support MOSI and care about us, it's important for them to hear about the really cutting-edge work in science and technology we're sharing with the public here, and our vital mission of educating thousands of children every year — and Grayson is the right person to get that message out," Demeulenaere said.
