An estimated $26.2 million in national TV advertising was collectively spent over the last 12-month period (January 2021 to January 2022) among all the major studios — garnering 4.4 billion impressions from 19,380 airings of commercials, according to iSpot.tv.

The in-person presentation, set for May 16, will also depart from tradition (or at least pre-pandemic tradition) by leaving midtown Manhattan for lower Manhattan, holding the advertising pitch at an event space that used to be the trading floor for the New York Mercantile Exchange.

Susanne Daniels has resigned as YouTube’s global head of original content after six years. She will leave in March. There, Daniels developed Cobra Kai, which was a YouTube original before moving to Netflix after two seasons. She also developed On Becoming a God in Central Florida, which moved to Showtime.
PBS today announced several new long-term initiatives to support diversity in public media. They include a commitment to create a pipeline of diverse documentary filmmakers and a pledge to include more diverse perspectives in key production roles. PBS also announced it will launch on the video-focused social media platform TikTok. PBS President-CEO Paula Kerger announced the initiatives Tuesday at the TCA Winter Press Tour.
Netflix now is expanding to a documentary series on golf, with the PGA Tour and the organizers of the four major championships granting access for a behind-the-scenes look. Among those who have signed up (without pay) to participate are multiple major champions like Jordan Spieth, Brooks Koepka, Dustin Johnson and Collin Morikawa. Also on the list are Max Homa and Joel Dahmen, who have revealed their personalities through various social media.
ABC’s coverage of the Rams/Cardinals NFL Wild Card game averaged 10.4 million total viewers and a 2.2 demo rating, obviously leading Monday in both measures. Over on CBS, The Neighborhood (5.6M/0.6), Bob Hearts Abishola (5.3M/0.5) and NCIS (7M/0.5) all grew in audience, with The Neighborhood also ticking up in the demo.
