Big Slowdown Seen In Home-Entertainment TV Marketing

Home-entertainment marketing of theatrical movies — including pay-per-view digital viewing, and DVDs — has seen a sharp 65% drop in national TV marketing, partly due to the rise of streaming platforms. An estimated $26.2 million in national TV advertising was collectively spent over the last 12-month period (January 2021 to January 2022) among all the major studios — garnering 4.4 billion impressions from 19,380 airings of commercials, according to iSpot.tv.

Fox Plans In-Person ‘Portfolio’ Upfront

For the first time, Fox Corp. will hold a unified in-person upfront presentation that includes entertainment programming on the Fox broadcast network, as well as pitches for Fox Sports and Fox News, the company said Wednesday. The in-person presentation, set for May 16, will also depart from tradition (or at least pre-pandemic tradition) by leaving midtown Manhattan for lower Manhattan, holding the advertising pitch at an event space that used to be the trading floor for the New York Mercantile Exchange.
